Chemnitz Symposium on Inverse Problems 2018

The two-day Chemnitz Symposium on Inverse Problems was initiated by Bernd Hofmann in 2002 and has taken place annually since then, both in Chemnitz and various ‘on tour’ locations around the world. The emphasis is on the mathematical analysis of ill-posedness phenomena in theory and practice of inverse problems. As such, the symposium covers topics from regularization theory in the statistical and deterministic framework to applications including, but not limited to, image processing, medical imaging, and parameter identification problems.

Date September 27-28, 2018 (Thu-Fri)
(Time schedule will be from Thursday 8:55 a.m. to Friday 3:45 p.m.)
Location The conference will take place in downtown Chemnitz at a small conference center ( pentagon3 ) across the Stadthallenpark from the conference hotel, both in walking distance from the main train station.
Time schedule
  • Thursday: Presentations, excursion, conference dinner
  • Friday: Presentations
Scientific topics Our symposium seeks to bring together experts from the German and international 'Inverse Problems Community' and young scientists. The focus is on ill-posedness phenomena, regularization theory and practice, and on the analytical, numerical, and stochastic treatment of applied inverse problems from natural sciences, engineering, and finance.
Invited speakers Martin Burger (University of Münster, Germany)
Per Christian Hansen (DTU Compute, Denmark)
Shuai Lu (Fudan University, Shanghai, China)
Otmar Scherzer (University of Vienna, Austria)
Contributions Talks: time slots are 25 minutes or 20 minutes, both including discussion. Please check the program for more information.
We will provide laptop and data projector for the presentation.
